The Importance of Music to Children's Development

Have you ever wondered, how can a child shake limbs, or dance when they listen to music? However, the child is not yet a year old but is capable of moving limbs according to music.

Music is part of a child's life because since they are still in the womb, they are already able to hear the sound. It is not surprising that they are accustomed to music. Children naturally love entertaining sounds. They are accustomed to sounds and music because, before they go to sleep, parents will keep children with their traditional songs. Music is one of the stimulants that can have a positive impact on the development of the minds of infants and children. Hence, music is used creatively by teachers to teach children in schools as well as nurseries.

Research conducted by researchers has proven that music can have a positive impact on the development of the minds of babies and children. Among the positive effects of music use on the development of the minds of babies and children is music can enhance the development of children's language, children are able to build sound-words, children's math abilities and enhance the intellectual ability of children. Most children around the world think that the suitability of music for children and infants is widespread and unlimited. However, there are criteria to be followed, that the music used for the baby and the child is not too strong and painful.

When the baby grows up, they naturally enjoy music by wiggling limbs, moving and dancing according to music beat when listening to music. Among the benefits of music to the development of children is to calm the little one who is crying. The habit that we always see is when the child cries, one way the mother persuades his son is by listening, menderingi and playing songs and music. The voice of the mother and the father giving the song can help to ease the emotions of the baby, the melody of their voice can entertain the child even if their voices are not as simple as the singers.

In addition, the use of music can help the development of children's language. At the first six years of age, children can hear well and try differentiating different sounds in the music rhythm. They can also follow the rhythm and gain knowledge about music through the visual presentation of the sound. When listening to music, children indirectly hear the word and learn the sound of the word. The process of getting the meaning of the word becomes a marker for the beginnings of children to develop their language skills and skills.

Music has also been associated with increased literacy, being able to recognize letters. Rhythm in music also plays a role in improving memory, such as ABC songs. The song can help increase memory, because our mind is tempted to remember something like a song more than read it. Adults, some also sing ABC songs to Z, to read letters if they forget the order of the letters.


Furthermore, the use of music to children can increase the ability of the child. By providing music exposure and training to children, they are able to understand new information faster and better. Hence, the use of music to children can directly improve the mental capacity of children.

In conclusion, it is concluded that the use of music is important in the development of children. Children can play music while learning. Among the benefits of using music in early childhood education is to enhance emotion, improve language development, recovery therapy for special children, improve memory and enhance the ability to absorb knowledge.
